President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday requested Chief Insp. Jovie
Espenido to be alloted to Iloilo.
Espenido,
who has been portrayed by some as a scourge of charged medication masters,
drove the strikes on the places of the Parojinog group in July that prompted
the demise of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and 14 others.
Espenido
was the police leader of Albuera, Leyte, when Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. was
executed in an affirmed shootout inside the subprovincial imprison in Baybay
City.
"Your
next task is Iloilo," Duterte told Espenido amid his discourse at the
National Heroes' Day festivity in Taguig City.During the occasion, the
President granted Espenido with the Magalong Medal, which is presented on
authorities and work force of the legislature and private people who have
rendered "phenomenal administration or have made uncommon commitments to
the accomplishment of a movement according to a battle or backing of the
President."
In an ambush interview, Duterte said Espenido requested him to be assigned in Iloilo.
“He’s a dedicated man. He knows his law. So he should replicate his exploits in other parts of the country. He wants to be assigned in Iloilo, I will assign him there,” he told reporters.
The President noted that the mayors involved in drugs died when Espenido was assigned in their area.
Duterte earlier tagged Iloilo as the “bedrock” of illegal drugs in the Visayas.
